FOUR – DAY DOLLAR GENERAL CLEARANCE EVENT – August 30th thru September 2nd!

Another day, another Dollar General Clearance Event! This NEW Clearance Event is four days long – from Friday, August 30th through Monday, September 2nd!

You know, when I first started couponing this was a once a year type of event, always in August. The evolution of clearance events as a whole is baffling. We are now getting clearance events at the bare minimum of once every other month. Anyways …

All clearance (including clearance section and POG items) will be an additional 50% off the clearance price. Here are a few short refreshers for your memory:

There are typically issues on Friday mornings. Not all, but some clearanced items may not ring up correctly. Employees have no control over this.
If it has matching UPCs but is not scanning correctly, ask an employee to scan with the handheld. This is how they can check to see if the item is showing as discontinued in their system. If it is not, they CAN manually discount it, but they do not have to.

NOTE: Scanning through the register will NOT tell an employee if the item is discontinued. The only way they can truly check is with handheld. Some newer employees may not be aware of this.

Clearance will not just be down the clearance aisles. You actually have the upper hand if your store does not have all of it displayed properly. If you know what you’re looking for, look down regular aisles, end caps and sky shelves (ask for help with sky shelves so you don’t hurt yourself).
Be nice to the employees. I really shouldn’t even have to say this, but I know it happens because I’ve seen it first hand. Don’t ruin their day by being rude to them – like previously mentioned, it is not their fault if an item doesn’t ring or coupon doesn’t attach.

The GOOD STUFF:

Below are matchups divided into two sections.

The first is your digital coupon matchups: this will be the 50% off combined with a digital coupon. Not everyone will have the same digital coupons, so I’m going by what digitals I have.

The second is your regular 50% off price with no digital coupons involved.

A lot of these products are the same as what we’ve had in the past two clearance cycles, but there are still tons of clearance overflow – which is exactly why we’re having this event!
